Calpe is a town full of history and culture. Well situated on the coast … Calpe leeds all visitors through many parts of the history. Rests of iberic tribes have been discovered near the Rock of Ifach, which is the famous sign of Calpe and the Costa Blanca. Here you can find many seldom plants. In the rockface live falcons and seagulls. The rock can be reached during the day by foot. The houses of the oldtown are builded closed by on a small hill surrounded from ruins. Many of them are formed skillfull with wallpaintings.The small streets invites the visitors of the oldtown for a cozy walking. The maintained boardwalk of Calpe is expanding nearly 2 km at the Plaja de Poniente and 1 km at the Plaja Levante. Along the boardwalk you may enjoy a glas of sangria or a cup of coffee in one of the plenty restaurants and Cafes, giving you a wonderful sign on the cristal clear seawater.
Calpe offers a lot of culture festivities. Lots of cinemas, theatres and museums are giving you the feeling to undertake interesting things. The schedule of Calpe starts in febuary with carneval presenting marching bands from whole europe. Fallas-Festivities take place in March, where enormous paper mashays will be burned down at the 19th of march for “Sankt Josephs-Day”. A midsummer Fiesta happens the 24th of June – Saint Johannis – after that the Fiesta – “Virgin from Carmen”, that takes place in the fishing harbour at the 16th of July. Enjoy the Fiesta “Virgen de las Nieves” at the 5th of August honored to the protecion patron of the town. The Fiesta presents processions, open air concerts and fireworks. The october festival and the Fiesta honored to “Santisimo Cristo del Sudor” are celebrated the same time with the Fiestas “Moros y Christianos” during the second week in october.
